Transfer your faith from the world's system to
the Lord's system
The way we go through tough
times is an indicator of where our faith lies. We can tell if we are depending on the world's system or if we are dependent on the Lord's system
by the way that we react to our needs.
Matthew 6:25-34 tells us not
to worry about our food and clothing - that God knows our needs before we
even do and that He will take care of them.
This is an easy concept to
grasp when you are in plenty, but it isn't so easy when you are facing
lack. Usually the first thing we do it try to figure out how WE can
provide the need.
When you have a need and have a savings account,
it is easy to pray to God to provide for you, then go to the bank and
withdraw the money to go take care of the need. You figure that's
how God provided. But what happens when there is no more savings
account? How does the need get taken care of then? That is
when you come to
the realization that you have not really depended on the Lord entirely for your
needs. That is when fear sets in and you realize you have been depending more on your savings account than on God. Or, perhaps you have depended
on credit cards to provide for your needs.
We as Believers have slipped
away from God's system to the world's system just like everyone else.
We have relied on the world to take care of our needs. And sometimes
it takes a crisis for us to realize this. During a crisis, when all
else fails, we realize that if we don't have God, who are we going to call
on?
With unemployment rising, home
foreclosures, higher food prices, bank failures, and the stock market
going down, who are you going to call? Some are calling upon the
government to get them out of this mess. Some are relying more on
themselves. Some are giving up and taking their lives. But
we've got another plan! Our plan is to call on God!
The key to overcoming is to
transfer your dependence and allegiance to the world's system to
dependence and allegiance to God's system!
God has a system. This
system does include finances, gardening, storing up for rainy days and
becoming more self-sufficient - physical things we do need to learn about
(God's ways, of course). But there is also a spiritual aspect to it
that makes it all work. The spiritual aspect is that you come to a
point where you truly trust in the Lord; to trust that He does know your
needs before you even do; to trust that He will not forsake you; to trust
that He is taking care of you. And the only way to come to this
point for most of us is to actually have nothing else to fall back on.
When we realize we have
nothing else, we come to the realization that we have the Lord! And
once we realize that, we have risen to the ultimate spiritual level.
We have risen to a level of closeness and intimacy where we truly know
that He is our source. We trust that He does take care of all of our
needs.
So, during these tough times,
count it all joy! The King of the Universe is giving you an
opportunity to step into a closer relationship with Him! A
relationship where you are totally dependent on Him and where you will
will have more peace that the world could ever give you - even in the
midst of a crisis. Your faith will rise to a new level and you will
truly know that if God be for you, who can be against you!
